Alterations & Extension, Grasmere

The brief called for maximising views across the valley, improving the living space and creating an additional bedroom.

The original design proposal expanded the existing footprint and added a floor.  During construction it became apparent that complete demolition of the existing building and re-build would not only bring the benefit of modern construction to the entire building but would also reduce costs.

The new construction used block cavity walls, with increased 150mm insulated cavities, finished in render and natural stone.  Local slate was used for the roof and the gable was formed with a glazed aluminium frame.

ADL were involved from initial design through to Administration of the Construction Contract and completion.
